The first time I went to a Disney Pin trading event I felt so overwhelmed. I had some pins I was willing to trade but everyone kept asking me my “value” for them and I had no idea. If you’ve ever been to a trade show of any kind, there are people with tables that seem to know everything about their category. I didn’t know what I was doing and it was pretty intimidating.

But being a software engineer, I felt inspired. I knew I could build something that could help me, and my project was born. After pouring months of effort into it, it was actually helping me. So I invited a few friends to use it and they loved it and had so many great ideas on how I could make it better. Now it tracks collections, and allows for searching of pins on EBay through their API, but it really grew legs when I plugging into various AI models and figured out how to match different pin images with each other. It let me aggregate their prices and now I can search for any pin and chart recent for sale listings and match them with sold listings and generate a reasonable market value for most pins programmatically.
